The Landessportschule Sachsen Anhalt in Osterburg is the state sports school and training campus of the Saxony Anhalt sports federation, set on an 11 hectare, fully barrier free site on the edge of town. It combines a compact cluster of modern indoor and outdoor sports facilities with 156 beds, an in house canteen focused on healthy nutrition and several seminar rooms, so clubs, school groups and organisations can train, stay and meet on one campus.
Indoors the core is a large three court sports hall that can be divided with curtains and is equipped with markings and equipment for all major team and trend sports, plus an integrated 50 metre sprint straight for athletics work. Next to it sit a dedicated artistic and apparatus gymnastics hall with foam pit and fixed equipment, a 25 metre swimming pool with five lanes, a fitness and cardio centre with an adjoining multi purpose combat and course room, and spaces for table tennis and for bowling and skittles on competition capable classic and asphalt lanes. A sauna area and the sports bar Zum Fuchsbau plug directly into the pool and bowling zone, giving teams short ways from training to recovery and social time.
Outdoors the campus offers three football pitches, two natural grass and one artificial turf field in 104 by 67 metre size, with floodlights on the artificial pitch and on the main natural pitch inside the athletics stadium. The stadium itself has a 400 metre tartan track with sprint section, two long jump runways, shot put and high jump areas and a grass infield, which supports full athletics programmes alongside football. Three tartan multisport courts handle basketball, handball, volleyball and tennis, while a beach complex with two sand courts is set up for beach volleyball and can be adapted for beach handball, beach soccer and sand based tennis drills. A marked grass area is reserved for archery, and a large low rope course plus a fleet of mountain bikes give additional options for team building and outdoor conditioning.
Guests sleep in simple but modern single, double and multi bed rooms, with the overall capacity of 156 beds spread across 94 rooms, including eight fully accessible rooms for guests with reduced mobility. Overnight guests eat in the in house canteen, which is run as a mensa style restaurant with sports oriented full and half board options and flexible meal times for training camps. For meetings and classroom work the school provides several seminar and group rooms of different sizes and a creative room, all with daylight and suitable for workshops, video analysis and education formats, while the pedagogical team can design programmes for school classes, youth groups and training camps around sport, education and social skills.
